Rev. Fr. Puthuparambil Chacko Called to Eternal Rest

Rev. Fr. Puthuparambil Chacko, the secretary to the Bishop of Bathery and vicar of Pattayal parish expired on 16 July 2009. It was in a road accident Fr. Chacko was called to eternal rest. After high school education he joined the Gurukulam Minor Seminary of Bathery. He successfully completed his philosophy and theology studies in St. Mary’s Malankara Major Seminary during the period 1997 to 2004. January 2005 he was ordained a priest by Most Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Divannasios. After a year of parish ministry he was appointed secretary to the Bishop of the Eparchy. The death of Fr. Chacko, an energetic, enthusiastic and friendly young priest is a great lost to the Malankara Catholic Church particularly to the eparchy of Bathery. The burial will take place on 18 July 2009 at St. Thomas Cathedral, Sultan Bathery. His Grace Most Rev. Dr. Thomas Mar Koorilos will officiate the service.

Fr. Jacob Olickal is appointed as the Minor Seminary Rector (Bathery Diocese)

Rev. Dr. Jacob Olickal took charge as the new Rector of St. Thomas minor seminary. Fr. Olickal was working as the vice-rector of the minor seminary since the past one year.   Rev. Dr. Thomas Kanjiramukalil, the former rector of the seminary is appointed as the in charge of the construction work of the cathedral.  At present, he is also working as the chancellor of the diocese.  His residence will be in the bishop’s house from 15th March 2009.  He has been given a grand send off by the staff and students of the minor seminary on 13th March.  His Excellency Geevarghese Mar Divannasios and the priests living in the nearby institutions were present on the occasion.

Rev. Fr. Abraham Eramangalath Passes Away

Rt. Rev. Msgr. Dr. Eldho Puthenkandathil appointed the New Protosyncellus of the Eparchy of Bathery

Most Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Divannasios appointed Rev. Dr. Eldho Puthenkandathil, the New Protosyncellus of the Eparchy of Bathery on 31 March 2008 at Dharmapeedom Bathery. He was born on 30 April 1957 at Kodancherry and ordained priest on 30 December 1982. He holds a Doctorate in Biblical Theology from the Gregorian University, Rome. He has been serving as the Director of Shreyas, the Social Service Apostolate of the Eparchy for the last seven years. He is also a Visiting Professor in the faculty of Theology of the Malankara Major Seminary.

New Cor-Episcopos for Bathery Diocese

Very Rev Msgr Thomas Charivupurayidam and Very Rev. Fr. Thomas Thannickakuzhy are raised to the ecclesiastical dignity of Corepiscopo.  The liturgical ceremony of the ordination will be held on 17th January 2007 at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Pattom, Trivandrum.

Very Rev. Msgr Thomas Charivupurayidam is the present Vicar General of the Diocese of Bathery and he is the parish priest of St. Mary’s Malankara Catholic Church, Kallor, near Bathery.

Very Rev. Fr. Thomas Thannickakuzhy is running a Boys Home at Nambikolly, near Bathery for the poor children. He was the former Vicar General of the Diocese of Bathery.
